It came as a sudden shock
The words seemed as if they were imagined
Like they were ghostly floating through me
Yet they were not actually touching me
I stood there in disbelief
my lunchbox fell
through my
fingers to
the floor

I ran through my sister to get to the car
I drove wondering why
Why can't I cry
I want to cry

Slowly my feelings set in
Like lead weights set on my shoulders
My tears started to come
As I listened to my friends
So many memories
And the tears
Began

Reality finally set in
As the service came to a close
My best friend
Was gone
