Hate Crimes

From Transcyclopedia

Hate is something that everyone should strive to fight against. It goes against almost any religion or theology. Unfortunately, despite those teachings, hate crimes still happen. There are people who disagree with a person's lifestyle so much that they feel violence is the only answer.

According to the first National study of Transgender Violence performed by GenderPAC, 60% of transgender people nationwide have been the victims of violent assault. Nearly half of those injuries required medical care. That's quite a large percentage. Most of those assaults have not been reported either. This is likely due to law enforcement discrimination for the entire LGBT community.

According to Kay Brown, a researcher, transsexuals are more likely to be murdered than to marry. It's also estimated that transgendered people are 16 times more likely to be murdered than the average person in the United States. So with that, anyone who violates society's current strict gender role system literally is risking his or her life.

People hate because they are afraid. And people are afraid of what they don't know. Open your hearts and minds and learn as much as you can and hate will decline.
