Site Software Design

Change is brewing like good coffee!  Looking for volunteer developers!

We've been using various pieces of software for blogging, photos, content management, and forums for many years now, and it's gotten to the point where it's not very functional for us to use third party software any longer.  So, we've embarked on a development process to create a new backbone for TransLife.net.

Don't worry, the goal is that you will not lose anything you have already.  We're going to turn this site into a web 2.0 social network with all the bells and whistles that exists alongside all the information we've had that's helped so many people out.

So with that, we're asking for suggestions.  What would you like to see happen with the social network aspect of this site? Would you like integration with other sites, like Facebook and Myspace? Do you want a fully featured blog? The ability to subscribe via RSS? Do you want to syndicate your blog here? Podcast? Post photos? Artwork? share favorite sites? start new social movements? What would you like?

Please send your thoughts and suggestions to This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it . If you'd like to be involved in the development process, be sure to mention that.  If you're passionate about the trans community, or want to make a difference, even if it's your first opportunity, you are welcome to join the team.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to TransLife.net!

snowflakes.jpgWelcome to the newly redesigned TransLife.net! Since 2001, TransLife.net has been devoted to educating people on gender, identity, transgender and related issues. In a postmodern world, concepts like gender can be very confusing. We aim to help you through the learning process to understand and answer as best we can the truly gripping question: What is gender?

Feel free to browse the information in the Gender Learning Center, or GLC, by clicking on the link in the menu on the left. You are also welcome to register and join our community to continue your learning process. Since everyone performs and is their own gender, this site is for everyone. Feel free to tell your friends about us. Thanks for visiting and enjoy your stay!

We're Back Up and Running!

We're back after about a week of being down. A friendly turkish hacker attacked over Thanksgiving weekend (the weekend of Nov 24th for those of you that aren't from the United States). The full functionality of the site has been restored. There were a couple of problems to note though. First, all user photos were deleted in the process of repairing the site. You are more than welcome to re-upload your photos now though. And second, the flash games were removed too. I'll be looking into finding a new provider for those in the next week. Everything else is working great though. I also want to give a special thank you to Eugenia for her persistence and devotion to the site. You rock, Eugenia! Happy translife-ing, everyone!

There are still some problems with logging into the forums. I'm in the process of fixing that. In the meantime, after you've logged in to the main site, you can then log into the forum with the same username and password.
